Making the Right Choice (5/23/2021)

Second in a series of studies of Proverbs 10:23-25

“The fear of the wicked will come upon him,

And the desire of the righteous will be granted” (Proverbs 10:24).

Continuing the thought of selecting either a good, wholesome lifestyle or a life of wickedness, Solomon shows the consequences of our choices, both the wicked and the righteous.

The use of the word “fear” shows that the wicked are not quite as secure in their choices as they would like others to believe—they do feel at least some uncertainty about the consequences of their behavior. Inwardly, some realize that “what goes around comes around.”

On the other hand, since the righteous have trained their desires toward spiritual things and since their lives demonstrate that choice, they will receive that coveted reward, of course, by remaining faithful to the Lord. All of this teaching is designed to guide all people to make a firm choice for the Lord and His word.
