Fourth in a Series of Studies on Ephesians 1:15-23

“…which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,  far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come” (Ephesians 1:20-21).

God, the Father, manifested His exceedingly great power through His Son Jesus Christ, first, by raising Him from the dead and, then, by placing Him at His side in Heaven.

The position God gave Jesus clearly places Him in a position that is broader than just geography: not only is Jesus set above everything in Heaven and on Earth but He has supreme authority over all things.

As One with all authority, then, Jesus has the right to make rules, set guidelines, and expect that all beings submit to His power. When we read commands and instructions in His word, then, we have no right to refuse to obey—we are the created ones, not the Creator.

Through the word, Jesus tells us how to submit to His authority, how to worship Him, and how to live righteous lives: only when we follow His direction can we expect to receive the everlasting crown promised in Scripture.
