“and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).
Contextually, it would appear the “peace of God” here describes the contentment a Christian has because of his (or her) covenant relationship with God as a result of obedience to the gospel of Christ
That we, as mere humans, could enjoy such a tranquil state as implied by the word “peace” is beyond our comprehension. Numerous scriptures tell us to pursue peace and to work diligently to get along with others.
Seeking peace is especially significant as we begin this new year because of the violent turmoil in our country and because of the distress brought on by COVID-19. We desire this inner peace that can come to those who love the Lord and who look forward to His appearing.
