An Unwavering Faith Like Moses (7/27/2025)

By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,  choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy he passing pleasures of sin,  esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward” (Hebrews 11:24-26).

Having been brought up in the luxuries of the Egyptian court, Moses had an extremely important choice to make when he was about forty years old: he had to decide whether to be faithful to the God about whom he had been taught or to stay in the opulent lifestyle to which he had become accustomed.

Moses was quick and decisive in deciding for God. With this decision came the sacrifice of wealth, power, and position; but he never looked back, even in the face of the rejection of his own people for a period of time.

His position with God was serving as the leader of the Israelites in their escape from the hardships and bondage of the Egyptian Pharaohs. He looked to the goal: that is, the reward that awaits every person who is willing to allow his or her faith in God to be the overriding factor in life’s choices.

The message for us is quite clear: regardless of the alluring appeal of the pleasures of this world, they are not worth the sacrifice of giving up the eternal reward God has prepared for us in eternity. Nothing should draw us away from our obedient faith in God.
