A Solid Cornerstone for Our Faith (4/19/2026)

This is the  ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’    Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:11-12).

Inspired by the Holy Spirit and filled with ‘fiery’ compassion, Peter gives an extended address to the multitudes about what they have done in putting to death the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth.

In a metaphor, first used in passages in the Old Testament and carried over into the New, Peter quotes here from Psalm 118:22, placing emphasis on the importance of Jesus as the One on whom the salvation of the world depends going forward.

In construction, the “chief cornerstone” is the one on which the stability of a building depends for its survival: if the cornerstone is not correct, the building will collapse. It is placed on a corner on the ground, and all other stones are laid carefully around it.

Without Jesus, Christians would have no beginning point spiritually nor would they have any hope of being accepted by the Father into Heaven some day: Jesus’ sacrifice made possible the salvation of every obedient believer in every generation—what a priceless gift and how extremely grateful we should be!
